A primary mission of PGFI is to lead the development of new genomics technologies at Penn. PGFI houses three research and development facilities available for use by PGFI members. In addition, PGFI supports core facilities consisting of state-of-the-art services and technologies that cannot be readily reproduced in individual laboratories in an efficient, cost-effective manner.
The facilities listed below are devoted to developing and implementing state-of-the-art genomics research that cannot be easily supported by existing cores or commercial services. The R&D facilities, equipment, expert personnel, and training are available to the members of PGFI at a subsidized rate. Although use of the PGFI Facilities is "members-only," PGFI members may sponsor non-members for use of the facilities.
PGFI anticipates developing additional specialized R&D facilities for use by PGFI members. These will be determined as the PENN community needs becomes apparent.
PGFI has supported Penn Core Facilities using a variety of mechanisms, including funding equipment purchases, supporting technical staff, and subsidizing PGFI members' user charges. For a list of Penn Core Facilities, click here.
